I've joined Fall Fandom Free-For-All challenge. One fic is already written and waiting for a beta, the other is writing itself. Yeah, just like magic. Also, posted my wishlist.

Sweetflag sent me betaed fic, but I am so tired of writing now, that I just might wait until Monday to even look at it.

I am re-reading OotP now, for the first time in 2 or 3 years. Strange feeling, as if I have never read it, although I know all the facts.

ETA: Needless to say that my darkfest entry lies fallow. All of a sudden it turned out melodramatic and I hate melodramatic. Maybe I'll be able to salvage it somehow, yet.

On the 31 of October 1981 the Potters have been killed. All because of the prophecy that Sybill Trelawney made, Albus Dumbledore listened to, Severus Snape eavesdropped and passed on to his master, Lord Voldemort, who in turn believed in it and acted on it.

Lily's death was the motivation of the whole adult life of Severus Snape, his deepest regret, something he has never forgiven himself for.

That Lord Voldemort made Lily, among others, his aim, Severus knew for about a year before that tragic night. What did he do to save his beloved? What happened that we haven't been shown in canon? Maybe there was only one tiny element that needed to be changed to change the whole outcome?

I can't write Ginny/Sirius smut for the life of me. I tried three different scenarios and it all turned out R at best. I know exactly what I want to read, what I want them to be but as I sit down and write, it all goes to hell. It's either mellow or completely bland.

This pairing just asks for plainly wrong kind of completely twisted and fucked up relationship.

Sirius never grew up mentally but now, as an adult with a lots of money, he can do whatever he wants. And his 'wants' were always quite harmful. The death of his Siamese twin best friend and his own imprisonment only made it worse. Being locked at Grimmauld Place must have made him quite deranged at times. That's enough for me.

Ginny's penchant to live on dreams: of the hero, of the best friend; ignoring reality when it's not how she'd like it to be, trying to distract herself with temporary solutions to fill the void, to numb her feelings. She uses people like she feels she's been used, dumping them like she's been dumped (I don't think she does it with cold blood, planning, etc, she just does it as she goes, she realises it but can't help it? doesn't want to help it?). Her 'adventure' with Tom dramatically and probably permanently deflated her self-esteem. Being the seventh child after the six boys made her need to prove that she's as tough as they are.

What else do you need to write a smutty, little piece, ah? Man of lax moral standards and a reckless girl, who's trying to prove that she's mature enough and can take care of herself, thank you very much. Well, somehow it's not enough for my muse *curses*

Rules and regulations

Not big surprise that DD is gay, but my jaw dropped a bit that JKR said that. My smile faded completely when I read what she said about Hermione/Ron, Ginny/Harry and Draco (nothing new but still).

My stomach churned when she explained about DD's lies and machinations:

I believe in free choice, JKR. No-one is obliged to 'save the world'. There were thousands of adult wizards who could do it, DD included. Dumbledore who watched two dark lords raising to power, who did nothing to prevent it and who finally manipulated a child into doing it. I don't see it as a right thing to do and never will. DD had about 60 years from the moment he got to know Tom Riddle to do something about it and he did nothing, absolutely nothing. Empty words, knowing smiles and twinkling eyes. Can anyone explain why JKR is so attached to Dumbledore? Or maybe she sees manipulation as a normal way of achieving goals? I have to say for the umpteenth time: I don't understand this woman. Sometimes I wonder if she's changing her moral principles to defend her books, if she would change them (the books) had she had the chance, or if what she says is her view on these matters, flat and out.
